Jan. 14, 2014
“Refrigeration Commissioning Guide for Commercial and Industrial Systems” covers new projects, expansions, remodels, and existing systems that simply need a tune-up.

Guidance for commissioning custom-engineered refrigeration systems in commercial and industrial facilities is available in a new guide from ASHRAE.

Funded in part by the U.S. Department of Energy through National Renewable Energy Laboratory, “Refrigeration Commissioning Guide for Commercial and Industrial Systems” is intended to help achieve cost-effective and cost-efficient refrigeration systems for new projects, expansions, remodels, and existing systems that simply need a tune-up.

The guide includes information on commissioning during planning and design, construction and installation, and system start-up and first-year operation. A matrix delineates roles and responsibilities. Examples of commissioning checklists and acceptance plans can be used for reference or as templates.

The book is available for free download at www.ashrae.org/freeRefCxGuidance. A printed version costing $84 for ASHRAE members and $99 for non-members can be ordered by phone at 1-800-527-4723 (United States and Canada) or 404-636-8400, by fax at 678-539-2129, or online at www.ashrae.org/bookstore.
