"Whole Building Commissioning: Verification by Design" is the theme of The American Institute of Architects (AIA) Committee on the Environment's (COTE)'s 2010 Commissioning Symposium, which will be held Oct. 21 at AIA National Headquarters in Washington, D.C.

Presentations will include:

• "Total Building Commissioning: by the Book" by Walter Grondzik, PE, Ball State University.

• "OPR, BOD and Systems Manual: Cost Effective Project Tools" by Ron Wilkinson, PE, AKF Group.

• "It’s Worth the Effort—Commissioning for Existing Buildings" by Bernard Keister, PE, Guttmann & Blaevoet Consulting Engineers.

• "Perspectives on Exterior Enclosure Commissioning" by Fiona Aldous, AIA, Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates Inc.

• "Quality Assurance Testing for the Building Enclosure Cx" by George Blackburn, AIA, Construction Consulting International.

• "CxP to Enhance the Value of BIM and IPD" by Charles Dorgan, PE, PhD, CxAP, University of Wisconsin-Madison.

• "Making Your Sustainable Investment Pay" by Helen Kessler, FAIA, HJKessler Associates Inc. and Jack Wolpert, E-Cube Inc.

A networking reception will be held following the symposium.

Symposium attendees will be eligible to receive seven AIA CES credits.

Early registration rates are $199 for AIA members and government employees, $249 for non-AIA members, and $125 for associate members and students. The early registration period will close Sept. 24.
