November Heating-and-Cooling-Equipment-Shipment Data Released
According to the Air-Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI), November 2009 brought commercial gas water heaters a 16-percent increase in shipments from 4,910 units in November 2008 to 5,691 units in November 2009. However, shipments of commercial electric water heaters dropped 10 percent in November 2009 to 3,864 units, compared with 4,292 units in November 2008. [MORE]

Through 2009, 663 college and university presidents had signed the American College & University Presidents' Climate Commitment (ACUPCC), pledging "to eliminate net greenhouse-gas emissions from specified campus operations and ... promote ... research and educational efforts ... to equip society to re-stabilize the earth's climate." In part, the ACUPCC states the signatories' agreement to "initiate the development of a comprehensive plan to achieve climate neutrality as soon as possible."
