Jan. 15, 2014
The Webinars will cover green design, construction, and operations, as well as energy efficiency, indoor environmental quality, stormwater management, and more.

WPL Publishing Company Inc., provider of training, education, and development resources for the construction industry, will kick off a four-part weekly Webinar series intended to aid preparation for the LEED Green Associate (LEED GA) exam Jan. 21.

The 90-minute Webinars, which will be held on four consecutive Tuesdays at 1 p.m. (EST), will cover green design, construction, and operations, as well as energy efficiency, indoor environmental quality, stormwater management, and other topics involving green buildings and the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED program.

The sessions are:

• Jan. 21: “Green Building and LEED Overview,” which will provide an introduction to LEED and the LEED GA credentialing process with a general overview of green-building practices and LEED for design, construction, and operations. The session will address the definition of a green building, as well as examine the integrated-design process, the project-certification process, and other topics.

• Jan. 28: “Sustainable Sites and Water,” which will focus on avoidance of adverse construction-related impacts on the environment. Among the topics addressed during this session will be transportation alternatives, site selection, and stormwater management.

• Feb. 4: “Energy and Energy-Related Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ),” which will cover the Energy & Atmosphere category of LEED. Advice for establishing design and energy goals, sizing buildings, monitoring consumption, and more will be given.

• Feb. 11: “Materials, IEQ, and Innovation,” which will focus on waste management and reduction, waste audits, life-cycle impacts, and more.

The Webinars will be led by architect Richard Manning, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, and LEED consultant and project manager Beth Shuck, LEED AP BD+C, of Green Building Services Inc.

The course has been approved for six American Institute of Architects learning units.
