'This Old House' Expert Trethewey to Speak at Mechanical Systems Week

Richard Trethewey, plumbing and heating expert on Emmy Award-winning PBS television series “This Old House,” will be the featured General Session speaker for Mechanical Systems Week 2012 Sept. 21 at the Schaumburg Convention Center in Schaumburg, Ill.

Richard Trethewey, plumbing and heating expert on Emmy Award-winning PBS television series “This Old House,” will be the featured General Session speaker for Mechanical Systems Week 2012 Sept. 21 at the Schaumburg Convention Center in Schaumburg, Ill.

Trethewey is a fourth-generation master plumber who has been involved in the plumbing industry for 30 years. Born and raised in Dedham, Mass., he is president of RST Thermal, a manufacturers-representative company providing training to the skilled trades.

An accomplished writer, Trethewey authored "This Old House Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning," published by Little, Brown and Co. in 1994, and contributed to "Complete Remodeling," published by This Old House Books in conjunction with Sunset Books in 2004; "Homeowner's Manual," published by This Old House Books in 2000; and the heating and plumbing sections of "This Old House Kitchens" and "This Old House Bathrooms," published by Little, Brown and Co. in 1992 and 1993, respectively. Also, he writes a column for Green Mechanical Contractor, a quarterly supplement to CONTRACTOR magazine.
