Chillers and VRF Units

Server-rack cooling system
The Chilled Door Rack Cooling System effectively removes more than 40 kw of heat from any 42U server rack at a low power cost. Using 65°F chilled water, programmable logic controllers, and low-wattage electronically commutated fans, the system is especially suitable for high-density rack cooling. The system has a heat-neutral effect by returning air to a data center at design room temperature, eliminating the need for containment aisles, raised floors, or computer-room air conditioners. Chilled water at 65°F provides 100 percent sensible cooling and allows free-cooling chillers to provide partial free cooling at less than 75°F outside temperature. Programmable logic controllers with LON/ BACnet ports are included. —Motivair

Water heat-recovery unit
The Multi-V Water II heat-recovery variable-refrigerant-flow (VRF) system is designed to provide the benefits of VRF, such as low operational costs, minimal or no ductwork, and zoning, while maintaining architectural integrity. The unit has a small footprint, allowing it to easily fit indoors. The operational range of the heat-recovery system is 23°F to 113°F entering-water temperature for heating mode and 50°F to 113°F entering-water temperature for cooling mode. Additional features include capacity controls, such as the inverter scroll compressor and electronic expansion valve, and long refrigerant- pipe lengths. —LG Electronics USA Commercial Air Conditioning

Dedicated outdoor-air system
The City Multi VRF Dedicated Outdoor Air System (DOAS) is designed to supply outdoor ventilation air to a building independent of an air-distribution or conditioning system. The DOAS pre-conditions outside air for introduction into downstream HVAC units, lessening the load on HVAC systems. Because the HVAC system has to work less to condition air to a certain temperature, end users can save on utility costs. With line lengths of up to 541 ft one way, the DOAS offers an extremely wide application range. —Mitsubishi Electric Cooling & Heating

Chiller oil purger
OAM (Oil-Acid-Moisture) Purger restores chiller capacity and produces thousands of dollars in energy savings per year. Oil can find its way into the evaporator, where it mixes with the refrigerant and degrades system efficiency and capacity. OAM Purger quickly cleans a chiller’s refrigerant charge to only a trace level of oil, restores chillers to peak operating efficiency, and reduces energy consumption, saving owners thousands of dollars in operating costs. —Redi Controls Inc.

Variable-refrigerant-flow system
The DVM Plus III variable-refrigerant-flow system has been developed to enhance comfort while reducing energy consumption in commercial applications. It allows more than 60 indoor units to be connected to a maximum of three outdoor units ganged together. Multiple capacities and styles of indoor units are available to suit room size, load, and usage. The outdoor units are powered by Copeland Scroll Digital compressors. A wide range of controlling options is available. —Samsung

Variable-refrigerant-volume series
PB, a new iteration of the VRV III variable-refrigerant-volume (VRV) air-conditioning system, is available in sizes ranging from 6 to 30 tons. The units in the VRV III PB series are rated in accordance with ANSI/AHRI Standard 1230-2010, Performance Rating of Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) Multi-Split Air-Conditioning and Heat Pump Equipment, and have been designed and optimized to meet or exceed the minimum efficiency requirements in 10 C.F.R. Part 431 as determined by the U.S. Department of Energy and efficiencies as defined by ANSI/ASHRAE/IES Standard 90.1, Energy Standard for Buildings Except Low-Rise Residential Buildings. These VRV systems are among the most efficient heating and air-conditioning systems available in North America. —Daikin
