An interesting survey from Consulting-Specifying Engineer came out earlier this month. It showed engineering firms usually earmark about $2.6 million for HVAC and BAS products for their new and existing buildings.
More than half of the study’s respondents found that energy efficiency and an inadequate budget for a good design are impacting the future of their HVAC systems. Two other key points from this survey showed:
· Products specified: Air handlers, fans and air movement, and pumps and pumping systems were the top three HVAC equipment or control systems currently being specified by mechanical engineers.
· Sources of design revenue: Seventy percent or more of respondents cited pumps and pumping systems, air handlers, fans and air movement, and BAS equipment as having generated design revenue for their firms within the past year.
