It’s your worst nightmare when running any building, but especially a hospital: the heating goes out and doesn’t come back for nearly a week. This is exactly what happened to the NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s Southern General surgical building, according to BBC News.
A faulty heating pump went out and the hospital was forced to use blankets, mobile heaters and a wall-mounted system to help keep patients warm.
The health board said the system was now operating normally and temperatures did not drop below 18 degrees [Celsius].
A statement from NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde said: "The heating system in the Southern General's surgical building is operational today.
"There were issues with the heating system due to a faulty pump which required a replacement to be ordered. A new pump has now been installed and the system has been vented/bled.
