Pentair’s Thermal Building Solutions, a provider of electrical heat-tracing systems, has launched the Pentair Open Innovation Awards as part of the continued celebration of the 40 year anniversary of its Raychem self-regulating technology.

The global initiative invites customers, installers, engineers and distributors to submit their bright ideas here to make Raychem products even easier to use. The winner will be rewarded with a check for $3,500 and is invited to present their innovation at a ceremony in London. They will also be able to attend the final Formula E race, taking place in the city at the end of June.

The company’s revolutionary self-regulating heat-tracing Raychem technology was first introduced in 1974 and led to the development of a wide range of innovative solutions for the industrial, commercial and residential building sectors. To mark this significant moment in the company’s history, Pentair has launched the Open Innovation Awards to encourage its global customers to influence Pentair’s wide range of thermal management products and services through collaboration.

Any insight or improvement to make the existing company products, tools or software packages easier to use is a potential winner, regardless of size, complexity or application. Submissions will be shortlisted by the Pentair judging panel, who will select five ideas to be showcased on the competition website. The winning participant will be presented with the Pentair Open Innovation Award, alongside a monetary prize.

“Raychem has remained at the forefront of innovation in winter safety and comfort heating from its initial launch,” comments Pele Myers, Marketing Manager at Pentair Thermal Building Solutions. “We are very proud of this achievement and wanted to celebrate Raychem’s remarkable heritage in a special way. The Open Innovation Awards campaign underlines our commitment to our customers and gives us an opportunity to work alongside our partners, offering them a platform for exchanging suggestions and insights. We want to listen to the people we work with, reward them for their ideas, and build a strong future with our partners, customers and Raychem fans around the world.”

In 2014, Raychem celebrated 40 years of self-regulating heat-tracing technology. To this day, the company is still recognized as a global leader in innovative and energy-efficient heat-tracing and control and monitoring solutions with the highest quality and reliability in mind.

Pentair kicked off its Raychem’s 40th anniversary celebrations with the Pole Position contest in 2014, inspired by the first ever Formula E electric racing championship. Participants are invited to play an online racing game with a chance to win a number of exciting prizes by visiting the Pentair website. The contest is open until June 2015. The application deadline is 25th April 2015.
