IFMA Names President/CEO

The International Facility Management Association (IFMA) has announced the appointment of Anthony J. Keane, CAE, as the association’s new president and chief executive officer (CEO). His appointment coincides with the retirement of David J. Brady, current IFMA president and CEO, at the end of February 2010.

A certified association executive with experience in the nonprofit sector, Keane served for four years as executive director of NACE International, the professional association for corrosion engineers. At NACE, Keane led initiatives to grow the organization from $10.9 million to $22 million in revenue, expanded membership from 15,000 to 21,500, and increased the association’s international presence. Prior to NACE, Keane served as chief operating officer of the Optical Society of America (OSA) in Washington, DC. Before that, Keane served as director of resource management, interim executive director, and deputy executive director of the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) in Washington, DC. In addition to NACE, OSA, and CSI, he has served at the Institute of Industrial Engineers, The Software Factory, Trade Management, Keane Financial Services, NCR Corp., and Arthur Andersen Co.

Keane holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and management from the University of Cincinnati and was a certified public accountant in Ohio. He is a member of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and on the board of directors for the Council of Engineering and Scientific Society Executives (CESSE). Keane has conducted seminars and conferences for both organizations, including presentations at the ASAE Financial Management Symposium and the CESSE annual meeting.
