Free Conference on Sustainable Buildings April 27 and 28

Industry experts will speak on a number of topics, ranging from indoor-air quality for sustainable buildings to understanding the risks of Legionella bacteria.

The 2016 Sustainable Buildings Conference, a free event hosted by indoor-environmental-quality firm Pure Air Control Services Inc. and Tremco/CanAm, will be held April 27 and 28 from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the IAQ Learning Institute, located at 4911 Creekside Drive in Clearwater, Fla.

During the conference, industry experts will speak on a number of topics, ranging from indoor-air quality for sustainable buildings to understanding the risks of Legionella bacteria. More than 60 indoor-air-quality professionals are expected to attend.

"It's important to educate the industry on the latest developments in indoor-air-quality diagnostics, testing, and remediation," Alan Wozniak, CIAQP, CIEC, CAB, president and chief executive officer of Pure Air, said. "This conference will create awareness and provide scientific data to help our clients overcome the challenges of the indoor-air quality for sustainable buildings."

Conference sessions will include:

  • "Sustainable Indoor Environmental Quality for High Performance Buildings," presented by Francisco Aguirre, CIAQP, CIEC, CMA, director of building sciences, Pure Air Control Services.
  • "WELL Building Standard – The Role of Wellness in Buildings," presented by Al W. LaPera, CxA, EMP, LEED BD+C, O&M, GGP.
  • "Achieving Function, Quality and Performance in Vegetated Roofing Systems," presented by Rick Buist, principal consultant, Tremco.
  • "Legionella Bacteria, Know the Risks," presented by Dr. Rajiv Sahay, CIAQP, director of laboratory, EDLab.
