The IEEE eLearning Library, originally launched for organizational subscriptions, now also provides technical professionals and students with access to individual, fee-based short courses and conference workshops. Members of IEEE, a professional association for the advancement of technology, receive a members-only discount.
The library includes more than 200 short, online courses on many current core and emerging technologies, such as smart grid and green engineering. Each course was developed and peer-reviewed by industry experts and awards continuing-education units (CEUs) or professional-development hours (PDHs) upon successful completion. The library is delivered via the IEEE Learning Management System (LMS).
Those who enroll for a course can choose among introductory, intermediate, and advanced levels of learning. The LMS can keep track of courses and progress. Courses range from one to three hours in length and include notes, a glossary of terms, and a post-test. Once each course is complete, members are able to print continuing-education certificates.
The course catalog and the LMS can be accessed at www.ieee-elearning.org. IEEE is a certified continuing-education provider.
