AHR Expo Innovation Award Winners Selected
The winners of the 2011 AHR Expo Innovation Awards have been selected and will be honored during the AHR Expo, which will be held Jan. 31 to Feb. 2 in Las Vegas. Representing a cross-section of the HVACR marketplace, the winning entries were selected in 10 categories and represent some of the new products that will be displayed at the show. A panel of judges made up of American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) members evaluated the products submitted based on innovation, application, value to the user, and market impact. Survey Shows Students Benefit from Optimal School Environments
Results of the second annual “School Energy and Environment Survey” from Honeywell reveal that almost 90 percent of school leaders see a direct link between the quality and performance of school facilities and student achievement. However, districts face several obstacles when it comes to keeping their buildings up-to-date and well-maintained. For example, 68 percent of school districts have delayed or eliminated building improvements in response to the economic downturn. [MORE]

USGBC Presents Awards of Excellence
The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) has recognized chapters and volunteer leaders with its annual Awards of Excellence. The awards were presented during the USGBC’s Greenbuild International Conference & Expo in Chicago to chapters and individuals that excel in providing local green-building outreach and education and foster best practices within the green-building community.
