Nominations for the seventh annual Buildy Awards, part of ConnectivityWeek 2010, which will be held May 24-27 at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, Calif., are being accepted.
Based on the theme “Connecting to the Grid,” which is intended to increase awareness of the application of information communication technology (ICT) for energy management and efficiency, Buildy Awards will be given in the following categories:
• Smart Building, in recognition of a company or organization that has shown or used new and innovative ideas and technologies related to the connectivity of smart building systems.
• Smart Grid, in recognition of a company or organization that has shown or used new and innovative ideas and technologies related to connectivity of Smart Grid.
• Smart Homes, in recognition of a company or organization that has shown or used new and innovative ideas and technologies related to connectivity of smart homes, home automation, and home energy-management systems, with a particular focus on smart devices, automation, Home Area Network, and related subjects.
• Industrial Automation, in recognition of a company or organization that has shown or used new and innovative connectivity ideas and technologies in the manufacturing and industrial automation field, specifically those related to energy management and sustainable manufacturing.
• Connected Infrastructure, in recognition of a company or organization that has shown or used new and innovative ideas and technologies related to connectivity of infrastructure of transportation, urban development, emergency management, data centers, and other infrastructure subject areas.
• Technology Specific, in recognition of a company or organization that has shown or used new and innovative ideas related to specific technologies, including existing and new approaches, ideas, and applications in Smart Grid, smart devices, and smart services.
• Customer-Focused Innovation, in recognition of a company or organization that has shown innovation in engaging energy consumers with new designs of devices and systems, innovative business models, and approaches to changing the way energy is used.
Nominations are open to industry professionals, systems integrators, technology manufacturers, building owners, and consulting engineers. Candidates may nominate themselves, their company, or their peers.
A ConnectivityWeek board will review all submissions and determine finalists for each category. Winners will be elected by ballot by ConnectivityWeek attendees. Nominees must be present or have a representative present to win.
