The chlorofluorocarbon- and hydrochlorofluorocarbon-free phenolic-foam insulation has excellent compressive strength (3.75 PCF and 5 PCF) and meets rigid 25/50 flame/smoke ratings, while the vapor-barrier jacketing with self-sealing tape is zero-permeance-rated. Portable combustion analyzer ECOM EN2 is a compact portable combustion analyzer with features of larger, more expensive units. Housed in a rugged aluminum frame and hard-side case, EN2 monitors up to four gases (oxygen, carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxide, nitrogen dioxide), probes for temperature and stack draft/pressure, and calculates carbon dioxide, efficiency, and excess air. A strong internal pump and peltier gas cooler with automatic condensate drain ensures proper sample conditioning, leading to greater accuracy and longer sensor life. An on-board printer, secure-digital memory card, and wireless Bluetooth are standard features. Power-vented economizer The IPVB-ECO inline power economizer is a mechanical-draft fan equipped with a flue-gas economizer. It can be used in conjunction with any type of gas-fired boiler or water heater. Recovered heat can be used for boiler feedwater, makeup water, hot-water return, hot-water storage, process water, potable water, and more. IPVB-ECO is installed in a chimney flue system, where it can be exposed to hot flue gases and still ensure a mechanical draft (negative pressure). Light-commercial heat-recovery ventilators Air Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute-certified light-commercial heat-recovery ventilators from Fantech are powered by energy-efficient ebm-papst motors to provide 250 to 1,105 cfm at 0.4 in. wg. Reversible door panels provide easy access to cores, filters, motors, and drain pans. Aluminum heat-exchanger cores are engineered to maximize heat transfer while allowing an effective evacuation of condensate. Plates are hemmed and sealed to prevent cross-contamination. Energy-recovery ventilators with digital scrolls Greenheck has introduced digital scroll compressors to its Model ERCH and Model VER energy-recovery ventilators to improve temperature and humidity control and save energy. Featuring an integral controller with a time-averaging sequence, the scrolls are engaged and disengaged at a rate matching the required cooling capacity. Using digital scrolls for capacity control provides leaving-air temperatures as precise as 1°F. Additionally, digital scrolls offer cooling-capacity turndown from 10 to 100 percent. The compressor turndown results in longer cycle times, improving humidity control, reducing compressor wear, and eliminating the need for hot-gas bypass to improve the overall efficiency of a system. Scotch marine boilers Hurst 400 Series three-pass wetback scotch marine (firetube) boilers are well-suited for all commercial and industrial applications. The boilers provide fuel efficiencies exceeding those of most four-pass designs. Having no large refractory rear door, the boilers allow one technician easy access to all tubes. The boilers' front doors can be opened without the need to remove burner components and controls. Capacities range from 15 to 2,000 hp and 670 to 3,348 MBtuh. Condensing boiler Available in five models ranging from 1.5 million to 3.5 million Btuh, with thermal efficiencies as high as 99 percent, the fully modulating CREST condensing boiler with SMART TOUCH operating control features a low-nitrogen-oxide combustion system with stainless-steel heat exchanger and unique dual-system burner with up to 25:1 turndown. The top-mounted micrometal-fiber burner serves as two combustion systems, each with its own blower and gas-valve assembly to power the combustion process based on demand. The wave pattern of CREST's large stainless-steel firetubes provides superior heat transfer, creating turbulence to "scrub" maximum heat energy from flue-gas products before they leave the heat exchanger. Flow-straightening connector Immediately reduce turbulence and straighten flow from the discharge side of a pump in a fraction of the space. The Vane Flex pump connector combines hydrodynamically shaped vanes with a flexible connector to quickly condition the flow exiting a pump, protecting piping components and keeping the system in balance. Dedicated outdoor-air system Mitsubishi Electric Cooling & Heating's CITY MULTI VRF Dedicated Outdoor Air System (DOAS), 2011 AHR Expo Product of the Year for Innovation, is designed to supply outdoor ventilation air to a building independent of an air-distribution or conditioning system. The DOAS pre-conditions outside air for introduction into downstream HVAC units, lessening the load on HVAC systems. Because systems have to work less to condition air to a certain temperature, end users can save on utility costs. Ceiling-mounted air conditioner Designed to protect servers and other heat-sensitive equipment, the compact, self-contained CM25 ceiling-mounted air conditioner provides 25,000 Btuh of cooling. Its high sensible-cooling capacity and SEER of 14 are made possible by an energy-saving, variable-speed inverter compressor and inverter fan motors. Additional green features include R-410A refrigerant and Restriction of Hazardous Substances compliance. A wall-mounted controller offering advanced communications, monitoring, and self-diagnosis capabilities comes standard. At just 20 in. in height, the CM25 fits in tight spaces. Water filters Orival water filters protect heat exchangers and prevent clogging of nozzles, tubes, and other narrow passages by removing dirt particles down to micron size, of any specific gravity, from once-through and recirculating cooling water systems. Line-pressure-powered, the filters clean themselves without external power and do not interrupt system flow. They install easily in any position. They are available from 10 to 12,000 gpm. Condensing vertical boiler/water heater Available in 1,000-, 1,500-, and 2,000-MBtu sizes, the XTherm vertical modulating condensing boiler/water heater combines Raypak's modulating high-recovery copper-fin technology with control/combustion advancements. Category IV-certified for polyvinyl-chloride (PVC), chlorinated-polyvinyl-chloride, and stainless-steel venting, XTherm has a factory-installed PVC vent adaptor. Extreme burner turndown produces up to 99-percent efficiency at low fire and 96-percent thermal efficiency at high fire. A microprocessor-controlled diagnostic center displays information in plain English. XTherm units and Raypak's MVB non-condensing boilers can be combined in multiple-boiler systems, utilizing Raypak's Mod Plus Hybrid control to achieve greatly reduced first cost while maintaining maximum system efficiency. Variable-refrigerant-flow system Samsung DVM Plus III enhances comfort while reducing energy consumption in commercial applications, utilizing variable-refrigerant-flow technology to allow more than 40 indoor units to be connected to up to three outdoor units ganged together. Multiple capacities and styles of indoor units are available to suit room size and load, as well as room usage. Outdoor units are powered by the Copeland Scroll Digital compressor. Obround grease duct SlimVent obround grease duct is UL 2221, Tests of Fire Resistive Grease Duct Enclosure Assemblies-classified for zero clearance to combustibles, carrying a 2-hr fire rating. It features 4 in. of ceramic-fiber insulation and is available with a 304 or 316 stainless-steel inner liner and a 304 or 316 stainless-steel or aluminized outer shell.
