Appeal Raises Questions About LEED Certification
Appeal Raises Questions About LEED Certification
By Gina Vitiello, LEED AP, Chamberlain Hrdlicka, Atlanta, Ga.
Most members of the engineering and construction community understand the procedure for obtaining certification for a project under the LEED green-building rating system. Few, however, have had much reason to know the process of decertification. Until now. [MORE]
Plumbing Category Added to AHR Expo Awards
Plumbing has been added as a new category to the 2011 AHR Expo Innovation Awards. The awards recognize innovative and useful products on display at the AHR Expo. About 150 entries submitted by exhibitors each year are judged on the basis of design, unique performance, market impact, and value to the HVACR industry. Now in their ninth year, the awards are meant to promote and encourage new product development in 10 categories. [MORE]
AHRI Features Series on EU Directives and Regulations
The Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) will be running a series on the European Union’s (EU’s) directives and regulations affecting the HVACR industry. The objective of the series is to explain and define pertinent EU institutions and policy practices (that often not only are different in the United States, but have names U.S. readers are unfamiliar with) in a manner that allows a clearer understanding of events. High-efficiency boilers
Bryan Steam's HE-AB series of forced-draft, gas-fired "flexible watertube" water boilers features efficiency of 85 percent. The high combustion efficiency results from an integrated extended-surface heat extractor, which is supported by 7 sq ft of heating surface per boiler horsepower. The boilers operate at normal operating temperatures and without the challenges of special venting or condensing material. The boilers are available in six models, ranging from 900-MBH to 3,000-MBH inputs. The flexible-watertube design provides fast internal circulation and eliminates damage from thermal shock and stresses caused by poor or unequal internal circulation. Visit
