Green Design is NOT A Fad

June 3, 2008
In a recent survey, 80% of you told HPAC ENGINEERING that you believe green design "is not a fad, it's here to stay." 75% of you said you'd be involved in a green building project in the next 12 months.

In a recent survey, 80% of you told HPAC ENGINEERING that you believe green design "is not a fad, it's here to stay." 75% of you said you'd be involved in a green building project in the next 12 months.

And according to McGraw-Hill's 2006 Green Building SmartMarket Report, nearly 60% of you specify green mechanical systems. Yet, 63% of the AEC community (architects, engineers, contractors) feels its green information needs are not being met.

It's evident that designers/specifiers of mechanical systems realize green design has become a fact of life. Whether or not we agree with the Al Gores of the world, we all seem to agree on one thing: green design is the smart thing to do.

Where To Get Your Green Education

The green-design movement has created a huge demand for educational forums and events. Buildinggreen.com lists more than 100 green building related events for 2008, from local workshops to The International Green Building Expo in Beijing, China!

Some of these events could be very worthwhile. But only one offers information specifically dedicated to your profession: designing and specifying green mechanical systems for non-residential buildings. That event is the Engineering Green Buildings (EGB) Conference & Expo.

Produced and managed by HPAC ENGINEERING, EGB is your one opportunity to gain knowledge and information you can apply immediately to the projects you're involved with. EGB provides you the opportunity to attend technical sessions focused on providing solutions to your green-design challenges.

Sessions like:

  • Near-Net Zero Commercial LEED Design Case Study
  • Ventilation Energy Savings with Liquid Desiccant Dehumidification
  • Performance-Based Building Design and Operation
  • Building Automation for Green Buildings
  • How R-410A Contributes to Green Buildings

In addition, EGB features the brightest and the best green gurus in the industry. Jerry Yudelson, who will deliver the keynote address; Michael Zatz of the EPA's Energy Star Program; Larry Spielvogel, Thomas Hartman; Peter D'Antonio, and others yet to be confirmed.

EGB Provide Solutions to Your Green-Design Challenges

EGB 2008 will be held October 21-22 in Las Vegas. This is a must attend event for engineers, architects, mechanical contractors, facility managers, building owners/operators, and other buildings professionals involved in the design, specification, and selection of mechanical systems and components,
