Honeywell Life Safety has opened a new state-of-the-art training center at its facility in Lincolnshire, Ill. Hands-on instruction on the latest fire-alarm and gas-detection systems from Notifier, Gamewell-FCI and Honeywell Analytics will be provided to distributors and customers currently utilizing these technologies.

Chosen for its central location less than 30 min from Chicago O'Hare International Airport, Honeywell Life Safety anticipates the new center will provide a convenient means for its authorized distributors to receive top-notch instruction. Sponsored guests, including facility managers and engineers associated with these systems, also are welcome to attend.

"We worked to create a training experience that's as close to reality as possible,” Mark Levy, Honeywell Life Safety's chief executive officer, said. “All of the classroom equipment is top-notch, just as you would see installed in the field. In the future, we hope to have more facilities similar to Lincolnshire, making it more accessible for our customers to remain technically advanced."

Honeywell Life Safety constructed specialized fire-alarm training systems on which students can practice and demonstrate competency in complex application programming. Classes range from two to five days in length. Honeywell Analytics University uses a similar approach in its dedicated classroom, providing customers hands-on experience in the theory, operation, and installation of its gas-detection products.

The Lincolnshire facility joins two other Honeywell Life Safety training sites in Atlanta, Ga., and its world headquarters in Northford, Conn.
