Marketair Honors Top Reps for 2019

Feb. 18, 2020
In a ceremony at AHR Expo, the NJ-based firm thanked its three 'Top Gun' performers from Washington State, California and Tennessee.

February 2, 2020, Orlando, FL– Edison, NJ-based Marketair, a leading provider of HVAC/R installation and service tools, this month named three “Top Gun” companies as its manufacturer Reps of the Year–2019 at the International Air-Conditioning, Heating and Refrigerating Exposition (AHR Expo 2020) in Orlando. They are:

  • Top Gun Highest Dollar Sales – Pacific NW Reps LLC, Yakima, WA; Scott Herberg, principal;
  • Top Gun Dollar Sales Increase – Denco Manufacturers Representatives, Azusa, CA; David Gomer, principal;
  • Top Gun Sales Percentage Increase and Distributor Increase –J&P HVAC Sales, Dayton, TN; Jim Fitzgerald and Phil Thomas (Pell City, AL), principals.

Pacific NW Reps’ success was mostly due to sales of the RoughinBox, a molded polymer terminal with dedicated lineset ports for quickly and easily roughing in ductless mini-split and VRF wall-mounted evaporators. Herberg, principal, who covers the rep firm’s Alaska, Oregon, Idaho and Washington territories with outside salesman, Alex Stankovic, landed one of the RoughinBox’s highest volume projects last year. A 270 multi-family housing project used 630 RoughinBoxes for multi-zone mini-split systems installed by Steelhead Mechanical, Spokane, Wash.

The 54-year-old Denco, which was acquired by current owner Gomer 30 years ago (after working in sales with the founders for 2 years), has been a Marketair rep for five years in the territory of California, Hawaii and Arizona. Sales boomed last year with the RoughinBox, but also the EasyBend, a plastic mandrel system that prevents linesets from kinking at extreme bends around obstructions during installation. Gomer sees Marketair’s newest product, The Disconnect Standby Switch (DSS) as this year’s top prospect to increase sales. The DSS is a disconnect switch that quickly connects a mini-split or unitary air conditioner to a portable generator via an extension cord during power outages.

J&P HVAC Sales, which joined Marketair’s rep network at its inception eight years ago, won a Top Gun award for the highest percentage of increased sales and another award for the highest increase of distributors. J&P HVAC Sales grew sales by presenting Marketair’s product lineup to contractors who subsequently demanded them from distributors. Consequently, the 31-year-old rep firm increased distributor customers for Marketair by 47 percent in its territory of Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia and Mississippi.
