Superior Boiler Adds to Leadership, Sales Teams

As part of relocating its Richmond, VA, manufacturing facility to the firm's Kansas HQ, Superior Boiler recently announced several personnel moves.

HUTCHINSON, KS (April 20, 2021) – Superior Boiler has announced additions and promotions in its leadership and sales teams. The changes support Superior’s expansion in Hutchinson, KS, with the relocation of its Richmond, VA, manufacturing facility.

Mark Yates has been promoted to National Sales Manager, Watertube Boiler Division. As a key part of the Hutchinson leadership team, he will oversee growth strategies for the watertube boiler business, with responsibility for customer development, sales representative network support and marketing initiatives. Yates previously was Assistant Operations Manager for Superior’s Hutchinson boiler manufacturing operations. He is experienced in technical sales, business development and project management that involves key customers and accounts. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Kansas.

Andy Burns has been promoted to Technical Sales Manager, Watertube Boiler Division. Burns previously served as a mechanical engineer supporting the sales and execution side of the business. In his new role, he will work closely with Yates to ensure support to Superior’s customers and sales representatives. Burns earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Virginia and is a licensed professional engineer. He will work in Richmond at Superior’s remote office location.

Michael Bruce has joined Superior as Operations Manager for the Watertube Boiler Division, where he will lead and manage all manufacturing operations. Bruce also brings experience in lean manufacturing and 5S philosophies and will implement those principles in the teams he develops within the organization.

Bob Obermite has been named Director of Facilities Maintenance for Superior Boiler. Obermite will lead the team responsible for maintaining Superior’s manufacturing facilities and capital machinery. He has extensive experience at some of the largest manufacturing companies in south-central Kansas, with a proven track record in implementing preventive maintenance programs that help deliver positive return on investment. Obermite is a certified Six Sigma Black Belt professional. He has a bachelor’s degree from Wichita State University.

The relocation of Superior’s Richmond VA operations will consolidate all of the company’s manufacturing expertise in Hutchinson. The transition is expected to be complete by the middle of 2021.
