Telgian Promotes Two to Fire Protection Engineering VP Roles

Drew Gerard, PE, CFPS, and Keith Butler, PMP, LEED AP, are the new vice presidents of fire protection engineering for the East and West regions, respectively.

Telgian Engineering & Consulting (TEC) promoted Drew Gerard, PE, CFPS, and Keith Butler, PMP, LEED AP, to the positions of vice president, fire protection engineering for the East and West regions, respectively. In their new roles, they will provide additional leadership, support and focus for TEC’s continued and strategic growth. 

"Keith and Drew have proven to be successful, highly regarded leaders,” said TEC President Leonard Ramo. “Their tremendous breadth of experience will be invaluable to the overall leadership, direction and development of TEC’s team, as well as in the creation and implementation of strategic and operational initiatives. Their exceptional skills in the areas of team leadership, operations and business development are essential in managing our expanding fire protection engineering practice.”

Butler has more the 15 years of industry experience, specializing in fire protection engineering for the oil and gas sectors. In addition, he has led large projects for heavy industrial clients focusing on fire and life safety system analysis, design development, construction management and commissioning, as well as hazardous materials review and analysis. His experience also includes project management for high-hazard industrial occupancies, including refineries, bulk plants, tank farms, power plants, aircraft hangars, storage facilities, warehousing and transportation facilities.

A member of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and US Green Building Council, Butler has been a LEED Accredited Professional since 2008 and a Project Management Professional.

Prior to his promotion, Gerard held the title of regional practice leader, fire protection engineering. In this position, he developed and grew relationships with prospective and existing clients while managing and directing the operations of the consulting group across the United States and Canada. In addition to his work with project and program management teams to ensure all project and process requirements were met, he was adept at ensuring his team was well-trained, informed and equipped for success. 

Gerard has more the 15 years of industry experience in fire protection, life safety consulting and design. He is a Professional Engineer licensed in 25 U.S. states and territories. In addition, he is a Certified Fire Protection Specialist and has U.S. Department of Homeland Security, CVI Certification.

His professional affiliations include the Society of American Military Engineers and SFPE, as well as the NFPA, where he is an alternate on the Technical Committee for NFPA 30: Flammable/Combustible Liquids Standard: Committee on Storage and Warehousing of Containers and Portable Tanks.
