ABMA Creates Hydronics Group, Releases Scholarship Application

Boiler manufacturers association emerges from annual meeting with raft of new programs, initiatives.

This month, the ABMA Board of Directors created a Hydronics Product Group during their meeting at the 2020 Annual Meeting in San Diego, CA.

The Hydronics Product Group will be composed of manufacturers of hydronics equipment and components that contribute to low pressure steam and hot water heating as stated in Section IV of the ASME code. The Hydronics Product Group will focus in the following areas:

  •  Forum to discuss trends and address issues impacting the Hydronics sector;
  • Watchdog for hydronic boiler centric codes & standards bodies, including ASME and various air quality districts, to bring awareness, information and influence for the hydronics companies;
  • Voice for the hydronics sector to act on issues to protect and positively impact companies;
  • Respected “Voice of Authority” in the hydronics sector where deliberation and recommendations on common product applications issues can be heard, addressed and communicated;
  • Place for thought leadership for the hydronics sector;
  • Entity to identify and create needed education for all industry participants;
  • Ability to contribute to and participate in boiler centric trade shows such as BOILER2021 that feature hydronics. ABMA Hydronics Product Group is intended to complement programs and activities these companies already receive from other organizations.

In other news, ABMA has also released its 2020 application for the Randy Rawson Scholarship. The annual scholarship program promotes "Technical Careers in Boiler Engineering and Fabrication."

To be eligible, a student must be enrolled in, or have been accepted by an accredited post-secondary institution of higher learning or similarly-accredited community college, vocational or trade/technical school. In addition, the applicant must be a relative of an employee at an ABMA member company in good standing or sponsored directly by an ABMA member company. 

This is your opportunity to promote the boiler industry and potentially support students with their educational endeavors.

ABMA has dispersed over $200,000 in scholarship dollars to more than 100 deserving students since inception.
