USGBC Congratulates President-Elect Biden, Sees Greener Days Ahead

Nov. 12, 2020
As its first Greenbuild Virtual annual conference began, the U.S. Green Building Council acknowledged the 2020 U.S. election results and expressed hope for greater green investment in 2021.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – (November 9, 2020) – The following is a statement from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) on the 2020 Presidential Election:

With change comes opportunity and this month American voters set the country on a new course. President-elect Biden and Vice President-elect Harris are facing difficult decisions with regards to addressing some of the biggest challenges in our lifetime, from climate change and social justice to a global pandemic that continues to hamper our lives and economy.

In the weeks, months and years ahead, the hard task of rebuilding, getting people back to work, and strengthening communities must remain the priority.

America’s road to recovery will require us to invest in solutions that promote healthy, resilient and equitable buildings and places while creating jobs and new economic opportunities. President-elect Biden has outlined a clean energy plan as part of his campaign’s priorities for building back better and in it is a commitment to advancing healthy, green buildings and homes.

The U.S. Green Building Council stands ready to work with our friends on both sides of the aisle, as well as the incoming Administration to move that critical work forward. By prioritizing green building policy as part of our recovery, we can provide communities and businesses with the chance to save money, create jobs and raise the living standard for all.
