2016 Sustainable Buildings Conference Sessions Available Online

The sessions cover sustainable indoor environmental quality, the WELL Building Standard, vegetated roofing systems, and Legionella bacteria.

Educational sessions from the 2016 Sustainable Buildings Conference, held April 27 and 28 at the IAQ Learning Institute in Clearwater, Fla., are available for viewing for free online.

"It's important to educate the industry on the latest developments in indoor-air-quality diagnostics, testing, and remediation," Alan Wozniak, CIAQP, CIEC, CAB, president and chief executive officer of indoor-environmental-quality firm Pure Air Control Services, which hosted the event with Tremco/CanAm, said. "This conference helped to create awareness and provide scientific data to help our clients overcome the challenges of the indoor-air quality for sustainable buildings."

The conference sessions were:

  • "Sustainable Indoor Environmental Quality for High Performance Buildings," presented by Francisco Aguirre, CIAQP, CIEC, CMA, director of building sciences for Pure Air Control Services.
  • "WELL Building Standard—The Role of Wellness in Buildings," presented by Al W. LaPera, CxA, EMP, LEED BD+C, O&M, GGP.
  • "Achieving Function, Quality and Performance in Vegetated Roofing Systems," presented by Rick Buist, principal consultant for Tremco.
  • "Legionella Bacteria, Know the Risks," presented by Dr. Rajiv Sahay, CIAQP, director of laboratory for EDLab.
