Famed architect Bjarke Ingels will serve as closing plenary speaker for the 2016 Greenbuild International Conference and Expo, to be held Oct. 5-7 in Los Angeles, the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) recently announced.
“Greenbuild 2016’s theme is 'Iconic Green,'” Rick Fedrizzi, chief executive officer and founding chair, USGBC, said. “When we think of icons, we conjure up images of people, places, and things that withstand the test of time, symbolizing our beliefs, culture, and community. Bjarke Ingels’ diverse world-view lens, combined with our dynamic and growing movement, is sure to create an iconic Greenbuild this year.”
Founder of Bjarke Ingels Group, Ingels has gained a reputation worldwide for award-winning design projects and buildings that are as programmatically and technically innovative as they are cost- and resource-conscious. He will discuss how we need to change our world view to create a world more responsive to our contemporary lives. He will be joined on stage by USGBC Chief Operating Officer Mahesh Ramanujam, who will share his vision of the future of the USGBC and the extension of the sustainability movement beyond the built environment to communities and cities across the globe.
The closing plenary is scheduled for Oct. 7 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. PST at the Los Angeles Convention Center. It is included in the four-day conference pass, the three-day conference pass, and the Friday day pass. For more information and to register, go to greenbuildexpo.com.
