Revamping Boiler Inspections, with NBBI's Joel Amato

*PODCAST* The last five and a half years have been quite a ride for the National Board's executive director. Meanwhile, the inspection process, itself, has continued to evolve.

Talk about a baptism of fire!

When longtime Chief Boiler Inspector for the State of Minnesota, Joel Amato, first started as Executive Director of the National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors (NBBI), the date was January 2020. "I had a three-month honeymoon before Covid started," Amato recalled. "Then we had just seven days to set up all 75 of our employees to work from home."

Other remote meeting, training and even inspection options would follow as the pandemic emergency acclerated related technology across most every industry. Now, NBBI is building on that crisis-spurred breakthrough to create new software that will link all its jurisdictions, members and insurers to improve the inspection process nationwide.

Amato chatted with us about this and other ongoing industry developments as our July guest on 'HPAC On The Air.'
