The hotel features one of the world’s most advanced aquifer thermal-energy-storage systems, Grundfos TPE vertical in-line volute pumps, and Danfoss VLT HVAC drives.

This month, Candace Roulo, senior editor of HPAC Engineering sister publication CONTRACTOR, traveled to Europe as part of a media tour sponsored by pump manufacturer Grundfos. In Copenhagen, Denmark, the group visited Crowne Plaza Copenhagen Towers, named the world's greenest hotel
by Skål International, an association of travel and tourism professionals, in 2010 and Four Green Steps, an Internet environmental organization, in 2011.

Crowne Plaza Copenhagen Towers also is the recipient of the 2010 European Hotel Design Award for sustainability and the InterContinental Hotels Group’s 2013 Green Engage award. In 2011, it was named one of the five most cutting-edge green hotels in the world by online travel company Travelocity.
