PRESS RELEASE

Chicago, April 7, 2022 — On May 17-19, BuiltWorlds, a worldwide network of leaders in the built industry, will host more than 150 industry professionals, venture capitalists, and technologists as part of its 2022 Buildings Conference.  The conference will address challenges and opportunities surrounding emerging technologies and industry trends in the built environment. Fittingly, Buildings will take place at 333 North Green Street, a state-of-the-art building in Chicago’s Fulton Market - an area known for leading-edge workplace innovation.

More than 30 multidisciplinary industry experts will lead presentations and panel discussions focused on the role of technology in creating smart, sustainable buildings in areas including planning, materials and systems, operations and maintenance, energy management and user experience. Other key topics will include the role of venture capital and the growing focus on ESG in the built environment.

"Now in its sixth year, the Buildings Conference reflects the maturation of the Building Tech Sector. Some of the trends we see this year include broader adoption of technologies in buildings, more comprehensive feature sets in solutions, and a real emphasis on ESG." said Matthew Gray, Executive Chairman of BuiltWorlds. "With more than a thousand members collaborating across disciplines such as manufacturing, real estate, design and construction, technology, and venture capital, our network is increasingly able to help accelerate that maturation process. The BuiltWorlds Network was created to bring industry professionals together to fuel the development and commercialization of new technologies to advance our industry. It is very exciting to see that dream coming to fruition at this year's event."

Speaker highlights include:

  • Keynote on ESG by Paige Pitcher, head of strategic partnerships at Moderne Ventures, a $350-million PropTech venture fund;
  • Cara Kennedy, Senior Vice President of Sustainability at Jones Lang LaSalle;
  • Amit Haller, whose company VEEV has raised more than $600 million from respected VC firms like Fifth Wall and LenX to tackle sustainable and affordable housing development;
  • Case study highlighting the role of emerging technology in the massive repositioning of the Willis Tower presented by EQ Office executives, Kirstin Hull, Vice President of Development and Mikki Ward, Vice President of Real Estate Technology along with Benjy Ward, Global Design Experience Principal at Gensler.

In addition to general sessions, BuiltWorlds 2022 will include a Demo Day showcasing PropTech startups, as well as a private reception at the Chicago Architecture Center, where guests will preview a new exhibit dedicated to energy transition in buildings.

The Buildings Conference will be the first of a trio of BuiltWorlds’ events this year - BuildingsConstruction Tech, and the 7th annual U.S. Summit. For more information and a detailed agenda of the conference, please visit: https://builtworlds.com/event/buildings-2022/
